Local Independence Day celebrations around the Tri-State

Cities throughout the Tri-State area will be celebrating Independence Day this week with fireworks, music, movies and fun.

On Wednesday, July 3 the City of Pineville will be celebrating Independence Day with food vendors set downtown starting at 5:30 p.m. and a FREE showing of JAWS at the Bell Theater at 7 p.m. Pineville’s fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. from the water company parking lot.

Fireworks displays will also be held on Wednesday night at the Corbin Arena at 9:45 p.m. and at Square on Main in Cumberland at 10 p.m.

On Thursday, July 4th the City of Middlesboro will be having their annual 4th of July Cookout starting at 11 a.m. at the Community Center with live music, hot dogs, watermelon and inflatables. There is a free concert starting at 6:30 p.m. downtown at the Levitt AMP stage and the city’s fireworks display will start at 10 p.m. across from Kroger on U.S. 25E.

Also on Thursday, the Harrogate City park will be hosting Harrogate’s 4th of July annual celebration starting at noon. Free watermelon will be available while it lasts and live music sponsored by Turn Key Realty Music will include:The Powers Family, Cody Fuson, Chris Ellis and family and the Tennessee 90 Bluegrass Band. Everyone is encouraged to bring chairs, shade, sun protection, and a good attitude…No alcohol is allowed.

This year’s vendors include: Concession stand by Harrogate Little League, Mackies Shave Ice, Angel Macarons with Dosie Dough, Mustard Seed Boutique, HaymakerBBQ, Hangar 37 Coffee and Pap Sledge kettle corn. Please be aware some vendors may be cash only.

For the kids there will be water inflatables from Big Air Inflatables  sponsored by K-N-K Metal Sales, Inc. There may also be a visit from the Harrogate VFD , so come prepared to get wet.

Other fireworks displays set for Thursday night will be in downtown Barbourville at 10 p.m., Evarts at dark behind Dairy Hut, in the city of Harlan at the Harlan Center at 10 p.m., at the Red Bird softball field at dark, the Go Big or Go Home Fireworks display at the Lone Mountain Marina and Campground and at the Kentucky Splash Waterpark in Williamsburg at dark.

On Friday, July 5 there will be fireworks displays at the Grove Marina in Corbin at dark and at the Food City Parking Log in LaFollette at dusk.

On Saturday, July 6 there will be fireworks displays at dark at the Holly Bay Marina, the Nixon Center in Leslie County and at Rawlings Stinson Park in Manchester.
