Known for her basketball and volleyball skills, Bell County senior Gracie Jo Wilder proved she’s also among the best in the state in track. She placed second in the 2A state meet last week with a jump of 5-foot.
“I’m so proud of Gracie,” Bell County coach Jason Stewart said. “She’s worked very hard this season and it showed with a runner-up finish at state. Coach (Harvey) Miracle worked hard with her this season, and she really gained confidence throughout the season. I think that was huge for her going into this meet — just having confidence in her ability. We will miss her next season.”
Isaiah Troutman placed ninth in the pole vault at 11-6 and Payton Burnett was 12th at 11-0
“Isaiah and Payton really put in the work this season with pole vault and that really showed not only by getting into the state meet but both having respectable finishes,” Stewart said.
The boys 4 x 800 relay team of Reese Arno, Braydin Hickey, Nicholas Stewart and Hayden Green placed 12th at 8:49.06.
“This distance crew just always finds ways to be successful. They lost a huge piece from last year’s team in Caden Miracle, but they put in the work and made it back to the state championship,” Stewart said.
