Five Star Hearing Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Friday as they officially opened their doors at 1632 Cumberland Avenue in Middlesboro.
Hunter Harvey is the hearing instrument specialist at Five Star. The private practice hearing center offers a wide range of services including hearing tests and evaluations, hearing aid evaluations, cleaning and checks on hearing aids as well as servicing them.
“We also offer lifetime aftercare on all hearing aids purchased through the office. That means all the appointments are included for as long as you have the hearing aids and we won’t nickel and dime you everytime you come in,” Harvey said.
He added that Five Star has an account with just about every major manufacturer and accepts a wide variety of insurances.
“At the end of the day we just want to be available — so we want to be open most days of the week — and also affordable — so we have different monthly options to fit anyone’s budget,” Harvey said.
No referral is needed. People having trouble with their hearing can call and schedule an appointment directly with Five Star.
“Everything is appointment only and we’ll get them to see what’s going on, where they need to improve for their day-to-day life,” Harvey said. “Then we do the tests and we’ll demo in the office what the hearing aids will sound like before they actually decide if that’s the route they want to go.”
Katie Owen is the front office manager and social media manager for Five Star Hearing Center. They now have locations in Hazard, Harlan and Middlesboro.

“Right now we’re open three days a week, but we’re about to make that five days a week,” Harvey added.
