He made such a difference in this world, and in the lives he touched throughout his lifetime. He was always kind and helpful to everyone, and he never met a stranger. All who knew him had the same sentiment about him which is “he is one of the kindest persons you could ever meet!” and his laugh was so contagious that everyone around him had to laugh too! He knew something about everything, and if he didn’t, he would most certainly figure it out…

Jeffery Leon Helms was a one-of-a-kind man. He was a great mentor, a forever confidant, and a “True Friend”. The Legend. The Legacy. The Miracle Man, who was, and still is Truly A Miracle Man…

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffery Leon Helms, who departed on April 4th, 2024. Jeffery touched lives everywhere he went, changing them for the better. He was born on October 18th, 1968, in Middlesboro Kentucky to John Buddy and Beulah Lee Helms. Jeffery enjoyed playing baseball, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He attended the Middlesboro public school system and joined the United States Navy immediately following graduation from Middlesboro High School. Once he finished basic training he was stationed in San Diego, CA. for his first tour of duty. Jeffery loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Jeffery was proceeded in death by his father John Buddy Helms, his mother Beulah Lee Helms, and his brothers Ernest Wayne Whitley Helms, and Richard Eugene Helms. Jeffery is survived by his wife of 38 years Delilah Helms, his children Alisha Mathews (Timothy), William Saylor, Siblings: Vickie Helms, Kenneth Helms (Janice) and John Buddy Helms Jr. (Diane), Grandchildren: Alylah Pridgen, Arissa Mathews, and Alexia Mathews, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers/sisters’ in-laws, relatives and friends. He shared a special friendship with Dr. Julia Comer, Karon Holmes and Chauncy Attucks at the Veterans Administration Office. He also shared a loving relationship with his sister-in-law Deborah Tye-Bergan.

Funeral services will be held on April 19, 2024 at Roswell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Team Miracle Man Charity (TeamMiracleManCharity.org). Jeffery Leon Helms will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Keep on rejoicing in heaven Jeffery Leon Helms.
