FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Kentucky State Police Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. announced on Monday the promotion of Captain Eric J. Walker to East Troop Major in the Operations Division of the KSP, where he will supervise eight of the agency’s 16 posts.
The East Troop includes Post 6 Dry Ridge, Post 7 Richmond, Post 8 Morehead, Post 9 Pikeville, Post 10 Harlan, Post 11 London, Post 13 Hazard and Post 14 Ashland.
Commissioner Burnett says Walker brings experience and knowledge to the command staff. “For more than three decades, Major Walker has committed his life to the Kentucky State Police. We are honored to have him serve on the executive command staff and look forward to the contributions he will bring in moving the agency forward.”
A 30-year veteran of the agency, Walker was promoted to sergeant in 1999, lieutenant in 2004 and captain in 2006, having served as commander of nine KSP operations, including both post and branch commands in multiple divisions.
“KSP’s mission is an integral part of my life,” Walker stated. “I’m proud of the service-above-self that the Kentucky State Police represents, historically providing Kentuckians a variety of services they have come to both expect and need for over 75 years. I look forward to doing my part to ensure the successful delivery of exceptional police services to the Commonwealth.”
Walker is a native of Shelby County where he resides with his wife, Marcia. He is a father of four and proud grandfather to eleven.
