Buster Joe Greene, age 89 passed away on Dec. 18, 2023 peacefully at home in Harrogate while surrounded by his family. Buster was born on April 2nd, 1934 in Thorn Hill Tennessee to Amos and Bessie Greene.

Buster Greene was proceeded in death by his wife, Zella May Greene and numerous family members. Buster is survived by two children, Wanda (Ben) Morgan and Dennis (Marie) Greene; four grandchildren, Julie (Rich) Lutton, Ben Dale (Devin) Morgan, Adam (Stephanie) Greene and Brandon (Sonya) Greene, and 13 great grandchildren.

Buster and Zella lived the majority of their adult lives in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan where they raised their children. Following Buster’s retirement from General Motors they returned to Harrogate, Tennessee and built a new home. This is where they enjoyed time together during their retirement years.

Buster had a strong exterior shell, as the family provider and protector. He had so much wisdom and playful sarcasm. His eyes were full of happiness, and he often flashed his partial smile.

Buster liked the element of surprise and enjoyed teasing the kids and grandkids. He loved spending time with his friends and family, bowling, watching baseball, or even just telling old stories. Buster will be also remembered for his big heart and love for life!

The family of Buster Greene will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment to immediately follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Tazewell.
