There is a new mission for the city of Middlesboro, and it involves knowing your history about the community. The city of Middlesboro’s Park & Rec. Dept. has organized a fun Middlesboro History Riddles scavenger hunt that can be completed without getting out of your vehicle.
“We understand how frustrating it can be to not have the opportunity to utilize our parks and be outside at this time of year,” said Boone Bowling, chair of the Parks and Recs committee. “The measures being taken are to protect our neighborhoods and to be as careful as possible to keep our community safe.
The “Middlesboro History Riddles” will consist of 20 riddles about the city of Middlesboro. Answers will be: locations, businesses, landmarks, historic places and things.
“Our hope is to continue keeping the community as involved as we can with activities while still applying state mandated social distancing and quarantine recommendations,” explained Bowling. “Several organizations around town are helping and we are happy to be doing our part as well, its going to take a community effort to get through this but there is no doubt that we will persevere.” The hunt will end, May 15th at 5 p.m. and a prize drawing at 7 p.m. Everyone who has completed 15 or more correct answers can screenshot their “Middlesboro History Riddles” answers by private message to the “Recreation of Middlesboro” Facebook page or by submitting the Google Docs form.
“I must warn you that some of these are extremely difficult,” he said. “You will most likely need the help of someone very knowledgeable in the history of Middlesboro or do some very good research on your own to solve them all. We look forward to your participation and good luck to everyone!”
