Lady Cats fall to Leslie, 80-73

The Leslie County Lady Eagles played host to one of the top teams in the 13th Region on Tuesday. Bell County entered the game winning 10 straight, and recently claimed the Section 7, 2A Classic.

The Lady Eagles had three players reach a double-double. Bell had two ladies reach double-double status. Leslie County led most of the game and went on to claim an 80-73 victory.

Senior forward Lexy Meyers led the Lady Eagles with 29 points and 16 rebounds. Baylee Davidson, a freshman forward, followed with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Emma Napier scored 13 points and grabbed 11 boards while Iris Napier tossed in 11 points.

Abby Harris, a senior guard, paced Bell County with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Ashtyn Meyers scored 13 points, Talyah McQueen and Abigail Cornett contributed 12 points each. McQueen pulled down 10 boards for the Lady Cats.

Leslie County took a 25-20 advantage after one quarter and led 38-33 at halftime. The Lady Eagles stretched the lead to 60-49 entering the final quarter. Bell outscored the host team 24-20 in the final eight minutes.

Leslie County (11-6) returns to action Saturday at Powell County.

Bell County (13-2) takes on defending 2A Champions Louisville Christian Academy at the Owensboro Sportscenter for the Kentucky 2A Championship.
