The community is invited and encouraged to come out and enjoy the first community tailgate this Saturday in downtown Middlesboro. Cumberland Avenue will be closed from 20th to 21st Streets beginning at noon.
The Kentucky Wildcats will be taking on the Vanderbilt Commodores at 3:30 p.m. and will be viewed on a large screen in downtown.
According to Bell County Tourism Director Jon Grace, the idea for the tailgate came from Green Construction’s very own Bo Green and Middlesboro Main Street Director Emily Ayers.
“Middlesboro Main Street will be showing the University of Kentucky/Vanderbilt football game Saturday,” Grace explained. “There will be some televisions and projectors at the Levitt Lot.”
The community is encouraged to bring your trucks or golf carts and enjoy the football game together.
“We are really encouraging folks to come out, grill and watch the game,” he said. “It starts at 3:30 p.m., so everyone come out and have fun.”
There will be electric provided on site for those who want to cookout during the game. The event will begin at noon and go through 7 p.m. The Tailgate is being sponsored by Green Construction.
