This is an event that the whole family will love and there will be a vendor for the whole family to enjoy and there will even be an appearance from Mr. Grinch at the Greatest Gift Market. The Greatest Gift Market will take place Nov. 8 and Nov. 9 at Pump Springs Baptist Church. Doors will open Friday at 4 p.m. and will close at 8 p.m. Then on Saturday doors will open at 9 a.m. and close at 3 p.m.
“We’ll have the Grinch here for the Greatest Gift Market,” Co-manager of The Well Bookstore and Gifts Connie Wright explained. “We’ve got over 20 vendors, and we’ve tried not to have any more than two vendors be alike.”
Wright also said that The Well Bookstore and Gifts will remain open throughout the event for patrons to visit and shop in.
“We’ll be hosting a Brunch with the Grinch on Saturday morning at 11,” Wright explained. “For $20 you get to do craft time, story time and have a yummy brunch with the Grinch.”
The theme of the day is Whoville with the entire space decorated like Whoville. Mr. Grinch will be there along with Margaret May and other Whovillians.
“We’ll also have some performances from the Middlesboro High School Choir with Elizabeth Welch, and they will be performing at 11 a.m. Saturday,” Wright said. “There will be performances scattered throughout both Friday and Saturday. There will be a food court where you will be able to sit and enjoy a lunch and good, yummy food with your family.”
When asked where the idea of the Greatest Gift Market came from, Wright says that it is very interesting how it came about.
“I would have to give some tribute to Linda Lankford because she herself is a vendor and supports herself, and she makes jewelry while working a full-time job,” explained Wright. “The Well had been purchasing some of her jewelry because we like to support our women and men who are crafters to sell through The Well.
Wright said that Linda was mentioning that there should some kind of market in the gym.
“It’s not really a Pump Springs thing,” Wright said. “It’s a community, tri-state thing because we’d like to see it grow into something memorable that our community can get into and enjoy. Linda said, ‘Well, what about a Christmas market,’ so we started brainstorming from that.”
Wright said that Lankford came up with the name “Greatest Gift Market.”
“We know for us that the greatest gift is Jesus Christ,” said Wright, “So that’s why we named it that.”
Come on out and be a part of the Greatest Gift Market Friday and Saturday. Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pump Springs Baptist Church located at 225 Pump Springs Road in Harrogate.
