Speedwell man arrested on tampering charges, traffic violations

A Tennessee man is behind bars after police say he was speeding while driving under the influence on Monday. Patrick Gibson, 30, of Speedwell, was arrested by officers with the Middlesboro Police Department and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, tampering with physical evidence, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, speeding 12 MPH over the limit and several other charges.
According to MPD, officer Chris Barnes was parked on Cumberland Avenue when he spotted a 1994 Nissan come by at a high rate of speed. After pulling the car over, the officer stated he smelled a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana. Gibson’s eyes were allegedly bloodshot and he showed signs of intoxication, according to police.
As the result of a search, police found tablets believed to be Alprazolam and half of a marijuana cigarette. According to reports, Gibson failed field sobriety tests.
As of press time, Gibson was still being held at the Bell County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash bond. Other charges include: possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, careless driving, failure to or improper signal, second-degree disorderly conduct, failure to wear a seat belt, failure to produce an insurance card and resisting arrest.
Others recently arrested on felony charges include:
• Ricky Allen Lee, 46, of Middlesboro, was arrested by officers with the Middlesboro Police Department and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia;
• Monica Gray, 19, was arrested by officers with the Pineville Police Department and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, non-payment of court costs, three counts of contempt of court;
• Tina Nicole Mullins, 30, of Middlesboro, was arrested by officers with the Middlesboro Police Department and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine);
• Heather Poore, 26, of New Tazewell, Tenn., was arrested by officers with the Middlesboro Police Department and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine);
• Betty Tilley, 34, of Evarts, was arrested by officers with the Middlesboro Police Department and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
