BARBOURVILLE — Union College head baseball coach Bart Osborne has announced Drew Erie will be joining his coaching staff for the 2020 season.
“We are excited to have Drew join our staff,” said Osborne. “I am really impressed with his energy and desire to be successful as a coach. It was an excellent hire for our program, and I’m looking forward to start working with him.”
Erie comes to Union after coaching for DePauw University out of Greencastle, Ind., where he served as the assistant baseball coach. During his time as a Tiger, Erie was in charge of the hitting, catchers, and outfielders, along with helping recruit incoming student-athletes.
As an assistant coach, Erie has experienced many different levels of play, getting his first coaching experience as a student assistant for his alma mater, the University of Tennessee at Martin, assisting with the softball program. Later, Erie moved on to assist the Chillicothe Paints prospect league and Danville Dans prospect league before serving as the assistant baseball coach at Southeastern Illinois College.
“I am honored to have been selected to join Coach Osborne and the rest of the Union College Athletic Staff,” said Erie. “I am looking forward to working with all of the Bulldog baseball players this season and I am excited to begin working and building relationships on campus and in the community.”
Prior to his coaching days, Erie played for the University of Tennessee at Martin from 2013-16, appearing in 79 games as a catcher. During his tenure, he earned a bachelor degree in health and human performance.
