HARROGATE, Tenn. – The awards just keep on coming for Ethan Elliott as the senior left-hander has been named the 2019 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division II Pitcher of the Year.
He becomes the first LMU pitcher to earn this prestigious honor.
This season Elliott has been named a first team ABCA All-American, D2CCA Second Team All-American, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association third team All-American and a Google Cloud Academic All-American.
The Knoxville native and San Diego Padres draftee, has virtually rewritten the LMU record book for pitchers, ranking number one in career ERA (3.01), wins with 37, starts with 54, innings pitched (358) and strikeouts with 402
Elliott capped off his LMU career posting a 12-2 season record, setting the program record for wins in a season. He posted a skimpy 2.23 ERA and recorded 134 strikeouts, breaking his own program and career record in the process. He capped off his season pitching LMU to a 3-1 win over Mt. Olive in the opening round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.
All told, Elliott will end his career as the most decorated athlete in LMU baseball history as he is a four-time All-American, nine-time All-Region player, Region Pitcher of the Year, two-time NBCWA Regional Pitcher of the Week, Academic All-District and Academic All-American in addition to being named All-SAC three times, SAC Pitcher of the Year, and SAC Freshman of the Year.
