Street department pickup schedule

The Middlesboro Street Department is dedicated to keeping the streets of Middlesboro clean and safe for the entire city.
Middlesboro City Hall wants to remind citizens that there is a schedule that the street department follows when picking up items to be thrown away.
That schedule is as follows:
• Monday – Northside communities: Cumberland Avenue, 30th Street, Binghamtown, 25th Street, etc.
• Tuesday – Winchester, Balmoral, Junction, Exeter, Chester, etc.
• Wednesday – East End communities: Fords Woods, 10th Street, etc.
• Thursday – West End communities: Noetown, Beltline, Wilson Lane, etc.
• Friday – Catch up day
“The street department concentrates on these areas on these days,” Middlesboro Mayor Rick Nelson said. “You can call 248-4601 to have a pick up. They do not pick up tires, shingles or metal. To have those picked up, you can call 337-7035 for that.”
When you call to schedule a cleanup, the street department will produce a ticket for the items that you are requesting to have picked up.
Housing and construction materials such as the shingles or metals can be taken to the transfer station in Pineville.
The Middlesboro City Council will have its regular monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Middlesboro City Hall.
