City of Pineville moving forward with lawsuit

The city of Pineville is moving forward with the lawsuits against both Southeastern Kentucky Medical Center and CEO Grant White for an undetermined amount of unpaid occupational taxes.
According to Pineville Mayor Scott Madon, the papers were expected to be served to the parties Friday afternoon but at press time that information was not available.
“White said that he was responsible for occupational taxes from May 7 forward,” Madon said. “That’s basically what I’m suing him for is May 7 forward because he sat down there and made all of these promises and said this and that and he was going to pay his bills and he’s not.”
Madon stated that they’ve received six weeks worth of occupational taxes and that White owes the city from July 2018 through the end of March 2019 as of right now.
“They’re not paying it,” he said. “We don’t know what it is, the amount, we’re going to have to go in and audit them because they are not filing the proper paperwork.”
Madon explained that it will be a pretty good chunk of money.
“The two and a half years they didn’t pay us, they flipped it over into bankruptcy and it’s over a half million dollars,” Madon explained. “I’m just not going to let it continue anymore.”
Madon said they’re taking it out of the employee’s checks, and it would be different if they didn’t have it.
Southeastern Kentucky Medical Center was contacted by the Daily News Friday morning but administration was not available to answer any questions at this time.
The Middlesboro Daily News will continue to follow this developing story.
