It took every bit of gametime for the Lady Bobcats to hold off McCreary Central on Tuesday night. After losing five straight games, Bell County got back in the win column by defeating the Lady Raiders, 63-61.

“We’ve had a tough stretch of games in the last few weeks,” said Bell coach David Teague, “Hopefully, a win that we had to battle for will help us get back on track.”

Trailing by six at halftime, the Lady Raiders battled back to within two points of Bell County with a 25-point fourth quarter performance. Thanks to a 16-of-26 performance from the charity stripe, primarily in the fourth, Bell County held off McCreary Central.

“It was a battle for us,” said Teague. “We played really well in stretches, then have moments where we would seem to relax and take a possession or two off. It was a good learning experience for us moving forward. I was proud of the girls for making the plays we needed in order to hold on for the win.”

Abby Harris led the way for the Lady Cats with 22 points and a pair of boards. Abigail Cornett finished the night with 15 points while shooting 75 percent from the free-throw line. Sara Kidwell led Bell County on the boards hauling in a team-high eight rebounds.

Elizabeth Anderson paced McCreary Central with a game-high 27 points. She also led the team in rebounds with seven boards.
