UC men’s soccer rated fifth in MSC preseason poll

BOWLING GREEN — University of the Cumberlands men’s soccer team is ranked fifth in the 2018 Mid-South Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, announced by conference officials on Wednesday. The poll was voted on by the head coaches of all eight conference teams.
The Patriots, who received 28 voting points, played to an 8-7-3 (4-3-0 MSC) record and finished fourth in the MSC in 2017. It marked the second straight season that UC earned the fourth seed in the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
The top team in the poll is Lindsey Wilson (14-4-0, 7-0-0 MSC, 2017 record), which garnered 48 voting points and six out of eight first-place votes. The rest of the top five is filled out by second-rated Cumberland University (15-3-2, 5-1-1 MSC) with 40 voting points, third-rated Campbellsville (14-5-2, 5-1-1 MSC) with 38 voting points and one first-place vote and fourth-rated Life (9-9-0, 3-4-0 MSC) with 31 voting points and one first-place vote.
The fifth-rated Patriots are followed in the poll by sixth-rated Georgetown (7-10-1, 2-5-0 MSC) with 17 voting points, seventh-rated Pikeville (4-12-1, 1-6-0 MSC) with 13 voting points and eighth-rated Shawnee State (2-17-0, 0-7-0 MSC) with nine voting points.
Cumberlands, entering its third year under head coach Chris LeFevre, begins the 2018 season at SCAD-Savannah on Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
