Middlesboro just received an extra hand in local medical care.
ARH Cumberland Valley Medical and Surgical Associates opened at 3504 West Cumberland Avenue.
“The facility, which once was the social security office, was completely renovated and offers modern and comfortable waiting areas and exam rooms for patients,” said Charles Lovell, ARH spokesperson for the new clinic and community CEO for Barbourville ARH.
According to Lovell, seven ARH physicians — Dr. Elizabeth Douglas, family practice; Dr. Ehtesham UI Haq, cardiology; Dr. Maria A. Hortillosa, family practice; Dr. Nitinkumar K. Patel, internal medicine; Dr. Amber Peace, general surgery; Dr. Mohamed Shanshal, oncology and hematology; Dr. Robert Thomas, general surgery; and APRN Jessica Helton, family practice — recently moved to the new clinic location.
“Patients already appreciate the conveniences of having access to multiple healthcare providers in one location,” said Dr. Peace.
“For instance, if a patient is seeing a family practice or internal medicine provider and is told he or she needs to schedule a colonoscopy, the patient can get their test scheduled with either myself or Dr. Thomas before they leave the clinic.”
Lovell also noted for those patients needing diagnostic testing, Middlesboro ARH is right next door.
“We are excited to open this new clinic and appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of the Tri-State with their health care needs,” he said.
