Bell County is ready and set to host their annual girls basketball camp beginning on June 11. Girls in kindergarten through the eighth grade will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball with the help of Lady Cat coaches, players and volunteers.
The camp will run through June 13 at the Bell County gym. It begins at 9 a.m. each day and will end at noon. The cost of the camp is $30. Those who participate will need to wear or bring gym shoes, shorts or sweats and a t-shirt.
Parents will also need to bring information regarding any medical condition as well as instructions pertaining to the treatment of the condition.
According to the release, the camp will be centered on teaching the fundamentals of basketball. Fundamentals such as ball-handling, shooting, passing, defense, footwork and rebounding will be taught.
“Players will be taught the importance of hard work and dedication in order to become a better basketball player,” the release states. “Campers will be placed into groups according to their age and/or ability level. All campers will be encouraged to try their best at all times.”
Campers will participate in several activities including: fundamental drills, station work, free-throw contest, hot-shot competition, one-on-one play, three-on-three play and five-on-five play.
Awards will be presented on the last day to various competition winners. A Camper of the Week award will also be given. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt as well.
