Spooky times arrive at Bell County

Who says the only thing to do around Bell County is take in the scenery? Also, who says it has to be Halloween to enjoy and show interest in the supernatural and paranormal? The interest in exploring, discussing and investigating the paranormal is a large part of the popular culture. Ghosts, UFOs, the legends of Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster — these phenomena have captured the imagination for decades and even centuries.
Pine Mountain State Park is hosting its first ever Paracon — an event dedicated to discussing all of the above and more — on June 9 beginning at 11 a.m. The event is child friendly and tickets are $5 and includes a free pass to the ghost hunt at the theater. If anyone is interested in the ghost hunt by itself, the admission price is $10.
The most significant aspect of this event is that it is all focused on unexplained events and encounters that have been said to occur in the Pine and Cumberland Mountain areas.
The Paracon will feature lectures from experts on various topics. The list of speakers include the Parks Program Services Supervisor, Keith Bowling, providing an introduction and history of the park followed by speakers who will discuss the overall paranormal, ghosts and folklore. There will also be music and vendors who will be attending the convention.
The night will be capped off by a ghost hunt in the Bell Theater in downtown Pineville starting at 7:30 p.m.
