Greeneville ends Cumberland Gap’s season with 14-4 win

Cumberland Gap’s season came to an end on Monday when the Panthers were eliminated from the district tournament by Greeneville. Cumberland Gap struggled to put runs on the board as the Green Devils pulled away to a 14-4 victory.
Michael Moyers picked up the loss for the Panthers allowing three hits and three runs in two-thirds of an inning. Cumberland Gap cycled through several pitchers on the day including Jeremiah Cannon, Peyton Welch and Peyton Wilder.
At the plate, it was Welch and Brennan Murphy who paced Cumberland Gap. Both players ended the game 2-for-3. Murphy was responsible for one of the Panthers’ four runs.
Wilder tallied one run and one RBI on one hit. Holdin McDaniel also registered one run and one RBI on one hit.
Greeneville racked up 11 hits on the day with Jordan Idell, Caleb Norris and CJ Henley tallying two hits apiece. All but one player in the line-up registered a hit.
Five players finished the regular season with All-Conference honors. Micah Cannon and Murphy claimed a spot on the first team while Michael Moyers, Brady Pearman and Peyton Welch earned spots on the second team.

Cumberland Gap earned a 4-2 victory against Grainger in the district tournament on Saturday. It took extra innings after the two teams ended the seventh tied at 2-all. The Panthers scored two runs in the eighth to clinch the victory.
Brennan Murphy earned the win on the mound for Cumberland Gap throwing a complete game while allowing two runs on six hits and striking out five batters.
Murphy was also the Panthers most consistent player at the plate going 4-for-4 with one run. Wilder tallied one run and one RBI on one hit. Darrin Robertson and Michael Moyers also scored runs for Cumberland Gap.
