Brock named First-Team All 52nd District

Bell County’s Sawyer Brock stands as the lone boys player from the coverage area to be recognized by the 13th Region media. Brock received First-Team All 52nd District honors, the only non-Harlan County player to do so.
After sitting out last year, Brock returned to play his junior season for the Bobcats. Initially a spark off the bench, it took no time for the guard to find his way into the starting lineup.
Over halfway through the season, Brock found himself as the leading scorer on a Bobcat team that finished 17-10 during the regular season — the first winning record Bell County has achieved since the 2013-14 season. He is averaging 13.4 points per game while shooting at a 51.7 percent clip.
In addition to scoring, Brock has also been consistent on the glass averaging 4.4 rebounds per game.
Harlan County swept the individual awards for the 52nd District. Alex Pace was named player of the year, Mike Jones earned coach of the year honors and Taylor Spurlock won the breakthrough player of the year award.
In the 51st District, it was Knox Central who swept the individual awards. Markelle Turner was named player of the year, Tony Patterson received coach of the year and Zach Patterson earned the title of breakthrough player of the year.
