Pineville falls to Knox Central, 42-41, in district play

The Pineville girls basketball team suffered a setback on Friday when they hosted district-foe Knox Central. Coming in with a five-game winning streak, the Lady Lions came up short and lost 42-41 to the Lady Panthers.
For Pineville, the loss evens up their district record at 1-1 with the team getting a win over Barbourville on Dec. 12. Knox Central now holds a 2-0 record in district play with a win over Barbourville in December as well.
Sarah Combs paced the Lady Lions with 11 points while shooting 60 percent from the field. She also shot 66.7 percent from three-point range. Makenzie Fuson added 10 points to the scoreboard while connecting on three of her four shots.
Jill Enix had a quite night offensively scoring seven points to go along with her team-high nine rebounds.
Maddie Pennington led the way for Knox Central with 11 points while going 3-for-7 from the field. Abigail Mills scored 10 points, while Emily Davis chipped in eight.

Pineville (12-3) will be competing in the 13th Region All A Classic this week with the Lady Lions slated to play Williamsburg (9-6) on Tuesday in the opening round.
Knox Central (7-4) will host Somerset (4-12) on Thursday.
